“The corporate revolution will collapse if we refuse to buy what they are selling…their ideas, their version of history, their wars, their weapons, their notion of inevitability. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.”
– Arundati Roy

Tonight we light the third candle in our Solstice Sunwheel or Advent wreath, or whatever you prefer to call it. The intention is described in the sidebar on the right.
We have been working this spell to honor the rebirth of the Sun primarily on Sundays, but our final two candles will be lit next weekend, one on Winter Solstice itself, which is Saturday, and the final, center candle on Sunday the 23rd, which is the Full Moon.
In some Christian traditions, tonight’s third candle symbolizes Joy. For many Witches and Pagans, this candle may represent the qualities of the third Element, Water – healing, love, intuition, dreams, receptivity, purification, and so on.
Tonight, preferably at sunset, make time and room for sacred space. Remember that you are joined in this work by men and women (and children, too!) of many paths, from many lands. So you may wish to extend a welcome to them.
When you are ready, first light the candle you lit two weeks ago, once again focusing on the intention with which you have charged it. Then light the second candle from last week, welcoming its energy. Then, when you are ready, light tonight’s candle and call in whatever magic and power you wish for it to represent in your spell-prayer.
After a period of meditation and affirmation of your intention, extinguish each candle in reverse order, from tonight’s to last week’s to the first one.
So may your words and desires be fulfilled for the good of all.
