Best wishes to all the free spirits and visionaries of this iconoclastic sign, for they are pointing the way to the turning of the Age for us all.
Aquarians are true originals. They love to think outside the box, and in fact, cannot abide boxes at all.
To understand this, I need only mention a few famous Aquarians like Thomas Edison, James Joyce, Galileo, Charles Darwin, the novelist Colette, Virginia Woolf, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Bob Marley — all visionaries that broke ranks in spectacular fashion with the conventions of their times.
Aquarians delight in their eccentricities and love to sail off in the opposite direction of the crowd, as astrologer Annabel Burton once described them. “Unusually lively, inventive and oh so original…they are always out of step with the world because they think ahead of their time and revel in anything different. As Aquarius thinks today, so the world will think tomorrow.”
And in view of the rising tide of authoritarianism across the globe, we need their unfettered fresh perspectives and defiant commitment to innovation more than ever before
Those quirks and preoccupations can make Air sign Aquarius a bit distant at first, and picky about who is allowed into her or his intimate circle. But once there, as a fixed sign, the kind-hearted Water-bearer demands and gives utter loyalty and commitment.
Aquarians tend to spend most of their time in their brilliant heads, which usually blesses them with excellent judgment. But to be successful, their challenge is to follow through, and act on their insights.
And they need to take care that their rebellious nature does not lead them to become self-absorbed, stuck in their patterns, or emotionally oblivious.
At their best, though, Aquarians can be the ultimate humanitarians: insisting on liberation and enlightenment for all.

How the Sun in Aquarius Affects Us All

Whether you are an Aquarius or not, everyone can look forward to very Aquarian times ahead.
During the days of Aquarius, we celebrate Imbolc, a festival of light and new beginnings. Although bitter Winter still hangs on, the growth of daylight and first stirrings of Spring become increasingly apparent.
It is a time when hope glimmers, and we celebrate renewal and rebirth during the Lunar New Year – always observed on the 2nd New Moon after the Winter Solstice.
Astrologers Annie Heese and Adam Banks at Cafe Astrology write that when the Sun is in Aquarius —
“We are motivated by our hunger for knowledge, experience, and originality. Innovation is more important to us than convention. We become more aware of what is outdated in our lives, and strive to find new perspectives and new ways to do things.
“The class distinctions, structure, and order that Capricorn finds appealing now seem to be too rigid. The freedom of the individual becomes far more significant to us. We strive to free ourselves from some of the restrictions, inhibitions, and limitations that now feel constraining rather than safe.
And as the late Maya del Mar so eloquently explained:
“In Aquarius time we each open to our own light and let it shine for all. We learn that when we put light on any situation, we get light back…
“Aquarius calls on us to awaken—to become conscious of our world, responsive to the needs of others, and open to our own self-expression. Now is the time for our awakening and compassionate interconnection to one another, pushing back against what the dying old dinosaurs may be up to.
This month, let us all commit to cultivating happy exploration, open minds, compelling curiosity, innocent eccentricity, and joyful astonishment. And when despair threatens, let us seek instead the glittering promise of our own mending miracles.
