After thunder and lightning last night, on this first full day of Spring, an uncharacteristic snow squall descends on us here at Laurel Hill cottage.
Spring is slowly arriving at our Laurel Hill Cottage, with a pair of spotted salamanders stirring in our pond. Although common, they are rarely seen.

With a forecast of our first freeze on Friday, I pause to say goodbye to the exuberant annuals that have graced our cottage. I bow to the turning.
The sweet song of the wood thrush is unmistakable, but increasingly rare, as they are very endangered. Also famously elusive, we were lucky this day.
We honor Gaia the Goddess, and Gaia. the science, on this holy day. Like all good mothers, She teaches us rules and boundaries so that we may thrive.
