I asked God if it was okay to be melodramatic
And she said yes
I asked her if it was okay to be short
And she said it sure is
I asked her if I could wear nail polish
Or not wear nail polish
And she said honey
She calls me that sometimes
She said you can do just exactly
What you want to
Thanks God I said
And is it even okay if I don’t paragraph
My letters
Sweetcakes God said
Who knows where she picked that up
What I’m telling you is
Yes yes yes

  1. My artist date was yesterday. The experience ties into saying "YES" to life and art. I attended a reception and new art exhibit for my back yard neighbor who is a painter and highly regarded artist in PA. He published lots of his art in a book called Keven Kutz's Lincoln Highway.     His most recent work which was on display at a local Bedford, PA gallery called Cabin Creek, is not shown and is very different, 3 dimensional collage style. He has been inspiring to me all along and is a model of saying 'yes' to making the most out of what life hands you, paying attention, moving on despite disasters, depression and grief, working with new materials, recycling common objects into fantastical art pieces, overcoming personal obstacles and trying unusual techniques.

    I am blessed to have close contact with an artist who is living his art. I don't feel a need to compare or compete, but I can see how he has embraced many of the principles from The Artist Way path and is making a living and a life with his art. Kevin is also an accomplished musician (fiddle & banjo) and plays with local music groups. I hear him practicing from my back yard swing and occasionally we have him over to jam in our music room.

    What a fabulous neighbor to have. I love that he is also musical. So often, creatives are multi-talented like that!
