A Time Out

Some people thought that the witches were bad.
Some people were scared of the power they had.

But power to help and to heal and to care

Isn’t som
ething to fear, it’s a pleasure to share.
— from The Witch Song, by Anne Hill

I am very late posting today, because I spent the morning with a friend who was in court. She and her husband have been harassed, spied on (we’re talking cameras perched in the trees!), and targeted for much general nastiness from her neighbors. And why, you might well ask, were the neighbors doing this? Because my friend is a Witch, who practices her spirituality on her own farm property.

I am glad to report that it all turned out pretty well. These dreary neighbors had hired a very smart, expensive lawyer who wisely talked them into signing a settlement to cease and desist, if my friends would, in turn, refrain from posting protective Pentagrams on their boundary fences.

While I am glad it didn’t actually come to it, in another way it was too bad that the settlement was reached before the case was heard in open court. Maybe then those ignorant plaintiffs would have been given some much-needed instruction as to what Witchcraft is, what the Pentagram means to us, and how very gentle and non-threatening my friends, and most Witches in general, actually are.

I doubt it would have done much good, though, since the Witchcraft issue was almost certainly only an excuse behind a more complicated personal agenda against my friends.

At any rate, my friends have a reasonable chance now of living in peace. Let us hope so.

And so with that, we come to the holiday weekend, and the end of Chapter Five in The Artist’s Way. We’ll resume our journey next week. If you’d like to share or discuss any of yesterday’s questions and exercises, please do.

Meanwhile, I am prescribing several days off, filled with artist’s dates and sweet Summer magic. Let’s celebrate Lady Liberty, be glad of and exercise our freedoms, and enjoy some creative playtime!

Blessed be the Witches.

And blessed be, to you.

  1. Just to bless that thought/energy:

    Blessed BE the witches.
    BLESSED be the witches.
    Blessed be the WITCHES.

  2. I'm still stuck on the questions you asked last week. I've come to the conclusion that if I were twenty again all the money in the world wouldn't help; I'd be too damned scared to do anything useful with it, as well as being on the suck-end of a vampiric relationship. I am very glad I am no longer twenty. Am I taking that too literally? Twenty is I assume supposed to be a cipher for young and fearless and not knowing you're mortal yet, right? Ha! It certainly was not for me. Much rather have the money now, thank you.

I've also realized that I hate the morning pages. Now, instead of writing in my beautiful journals, it all goes into this crappy little wire-bound notebook. All of it, the dreck and the gold; it's replaced quality with quantity. Because I've only got so much writing in me, I think, so once I put something in the morning pages nothing else gets written, not in my dream journal, or my regular journal, or, and this is really awful, not on my private blog. It feels disrespectful to the good stuff, the conversations with God and the epiphanies that frankly I was having anyway, because it's more about filling up a certain number of pages than about actually saying anything.

Also, this is going way too fast for me. I am processing a lot right now (I was anyway, even before throwing in The Artist's Way stuff on top) and I'm the kind of person who does things very slowly. But very thoroughly, and very truly, as in held to true.

  3. Although, something is definitely moving. This morning as I lay awake contemplating a long and rather involved dream I saw this:

I see a very young Changing Woman, the Goddess Estanatlehi of the Navajo. She is standing on the middle of a desert plain of red earth and scrub. She is looking out over the world She has just created. She, too, is newly made. She is satisfied. From Her the cardinal directions flow out, east, south, west, and north.

  4. Ok,
This is a bit off topic, but is there does anyone on the blog know of a nice blessing ceremony for a car? Yesterday, I purchased a 2009 Civic, which I needed badly and finally gave myself permission to do-shoving aside worries about money and worth.

Alas, the actual purchase transaction was very unpleasent, to say the least, and I fear that I will bring my negative energy over to the car and cause problems.

I guess I need a release of negativity for the transaction itself, and a blessing for my vehicle to keep it running safe and strong for my kids and I a long, long time.

BTW, I have named the car Hecate.

    Thanks,

  5. Oh and Thalia I went to school w/ kids who received tidy-sized trust funds in their early 20's, and they have nothing to show for it. It was mostly spent on parties, cars, and surprise, surprise drugs that for some led to ongoing battles w/ addiction. I agree that $$$ and youth, for most people, is a bad combination. IMHO-Paris Hilton is a prime example of that.

  6. Hi Beth,

spied on (we’re talking cameras perched in the trees!) => This is intrusion into privacy an I believe against the law.

protective Pentagrams on their boundary fences. => Don't you have freedom of religion in the US? Wouldn't religious persecution be against the Law?

I believe that if this went to court, these dreary neighbors, would have to pay a high compensation.

The problem is that when these harassements start you never know when they will end.

Maybe it would be beneficial if your community would protest. But you must know better, as you have a close view to the whole situation.

Whenever I hear these cases, it makes me angry arising in me a desire to shout. This is wrong.

    Love/Arie
