Invoking Ganesha

Happy Birth Day to Ganesha!

While I do not forget that in America, it is the tragic anniversary of the terrorist attacks, and we will probably give way too much attention to the two-bit fools in Florida that want to burn the Qu’ran, I would rather focus my energy and attention today on something much more positive.

Today millions of people around the world celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, the day that celebrates the birth of the God Ganesh!

Our dear Ganesha – You are the remover obstacles, bringer of happiness and good fortune. Won’t you please help us remove those obstacles that have closed our hearts and prevented us from understanding and respecting other faiths and cultures?

Pour out upon us your vast benevolence, wisdom and blessings, so that we may overcome our preoccupation with our fears, and defeat the ignorance and prejudices that turn us against one another!

May pure joy melt away our differences!

Jai Jai Shri Ganraj!
Ganapati Bappa Morya!

  1. Thanks for posting something very positive on 9/11. I had just read 2 blog entries from people who had survived that day. Needless to say, I felt very sad and deflated afterwards. Then I went to your website and read about Lord Ganesha. After reading your entry and listening to the music, I felt happy and positive. Happy Birthday, Lord Ganesha!!

  2. Blush! I totally missed observing the week-long celebration of Ganesh’s “birthday” this year. He’s “first among equals” in my personal (very mixed) pantheon. Thank you for this post and wonderful video. I was crying happily by the end.
